OK, I know this isnt always in line with the general community side but I have been having a blast on my new bike. Feel like a litlte kid again with a new christmas toy. This past weekend, I got a new fixed gear from a friend of mine. If yo uhave ever ridden a fixied gear when training you know what it is like for your legs. Rough is all I can say. After an hours worth of riding you are ready to stop or slow down, a lot!@
One of the items I really like is the pureness of the bike. There are no gears, no free wheeling and only one (front) brake. It is something that just brings you back to the early years of riding. Back in the early 1900's the riders all were on fixed 1 speed gear bikes. And I can only imagine what it was like to have to ride one of these bikes up a mountain on a dirt rode.
I am going try and get out in the group ride this weekend with the new machine and attempt the 3 hour 'struggle' that it will most certainly end up. Might need to bring the phone for a needed pick up.
